Weston High School boys soccer secured its second straight Southwest Conference championship on Sunday by defeating New Milford 4-0 at Western Connecticut State University.

The Trojans entered the final match as the No. 2 seed in the tournament. They had previously upset Bethel to claim the 2025 title. Weston faced a challenge in the regular season when New Milford defeated them 4-2. That loss marked the only defeat for Weston during the league schedule.

Coach Thomas Guardado noted that the team had the opportunity to defend its title against the only opponent that had beaten them. The Trojans controlled the match from the start. Constantine Joannides scored a penalty kick at the 9:23 mark to give Weston an early lead.

The team extended its advantage before halftime. Mads Leary provided the assist for Kacper Bos, who scored at 37:56. Weston continued its offensive push in the second half. Leary found the back of the net at 41:31. Maks Moffley added the final goal at 49:57 to seal the victory.

Weston senior captain Kyle Schiffer was named the tournament MVP. He led a defensive unit that did not concede a goal during the three-game SWC tournament. This shutout was the first time New Milford had been held without a goal this season. Weston outscored all tournament opponents 10-0.

Schiffer acknowledged the sting of the earlier 4-2 loss to New Milford. He stated that the defeat woke the team up. The group realized they were not invincible. He said the team put 110% into every practice and game after that result.

Guardado credited the team's longevity as a factor in their success. He noted that the seniors have played together since they were five years old. He also praised New Milford coach Steven Carneiro. Guardado said Carneiro turned the New Milford program around in his second year.

Weston now looks ahead to the CIAC playoffs. The Trojans are currently the No. 2 seed in the unofficial Class M rankings. New Milford is the top seed in Class L. Official CIAC pairings are scheduled for release on Tuesday.

Weston finished the season with a 16-1-2 record. New Milford concluded its campaign with a 17-1-1 record. The championship game took place at WestConn in Danbury.
