The Miami Heat unveiled a revised Dwyane Wade statue outside the Kaseya Center on Friday.

The new sculpture corrects the facial features of the original monument, which debuted in 2024 to widespread criticism. Fans and media outlets argued that the initial bronze face did not look like the basketball legend.

Wade explained the changes on social media, stating that he asked himself why the team should not improve the resemblance if people did not feel a connection to the face. The former player noted that the franchise listened to feedback and held sincere conversations with all parties involved. They agreed to adjust the head while leaving the rest of the body intact.

The modifications focused exclusively on the facial features to achieve a precise likeness to the 63-year-old. Wade played 15 of his 16 NBA seasons for the Heat after being selected in the 2003 draft. He won three championships with the team, including the 2006 title where he earned Finals MVP honors.

In 2012 and 2013, Wade helped secure additional titles as part of the Big Three alongside LeBron James and Chris Bosh. The Heat retired his number 3 jersey in 2020. A street in front of the Miami-Dade venue was named in his honor in 2021.
