Apple will begin rolling out iOS 27.2 next week, a software update that expands video calling capabilities and reorganizes podcast management on the iPhone. This release follows iOS 27.1, which was restricted to the iPhone Duo, making 27.2 the primary update for the wider device lineup.
The most visible change allows users to display front and rear camera feeds simultaneously during Group FaceTime calls. In the previous version, this Dual Capture feature worked only for one-on-one conversations. Under the new rules, participants in group chats can tap the Flip button to keep the front camera active while the rear camera goes live, showing both angles to everyone on the call.
The Apple Podcasts app receives a structural shift in its home tab. The existing Up Next queue is being divided into two distinct sections. The top section, labeled New Episodes, collects the latest releases from shows a user follows. Directly below it sits a new Continue Playing section, which aggregates shows a listener has started but not yet finished.
The writer for 9to5Mac tested this beta layout and described the previous interface as cluttered. They concluded that the split design helps users track their listening habits more effectively by separating fresh content from incomplete episodes.
Profiles are arriving in the Apple TV app on iPhone for the first time. While these features have existed on tvOS, this update brings them to the mobile operating system. Upon updating, users will see a profile selection screen, which can be disabled if preferred. When active, the app adjusts content recommendations to match the selected viewer. A child's profile, for example, filters the library to show only age-appropriate series and movies from Apple, keeping adult viewing queues separate.
Apple reports that iOS 27.2 includes new features across six iPhone apps in total. The update is scheduled for release next week, following the limited rollout of the previous version.
