The software version was pushed to a single device model on October 22, leaving the rest of the iPhone fleet on iOS 27.0.1 while developers test version 27.2.

Apple distributed iOS 27.1 to the iPhone Duo on the night of October 22, excluding all other iPhone models from the release.
The move deviates from standard operating procedures where point releases typically deploy across the entire compatible hardware ecosystem. By isolating the update, Apple separated the iPhone Duo from the broader software rollout cycle. This approach allowed the company to manage the device's unique custom designs and features without interference from unrelated updates intended for older hardware. The strategy also helped maintain secrecy regarding the new device, which was officially unveiled last month but had undisclosed specifications until recently.
For users of other iPhone models, the software update list in Settings currently displays iOS 27.0.1 as the latest available version. These users will skip iOS 27.1 entirely and transition directly to iOS 27.2. This version has been undergoing beta testing for approximately one month and is scheduled for general release next week.
The upcoming iOS 27.2 update includes several new capabilities. Messages will feature Suggested Actions, while Apple Music receives a new app icon and updated design. Apple TV will support user profiles, and Apple Podcasts will have an overhauled Up Next queue. FaceTime will add Dual Capture functionality for group calls, and Siri AI will expand its language support.
Apple indicates that no features are missed by non-Duo users during this interval. The next software prompt will appear with the arrival of iOS 27.2, confirming that the previous version was never intended for those specific devices.
