The Vegas Golden Knights are facing a sudden drop in production as they prepare to leave home ice. The team has managed only 11 goals in its last five games and lost four of those contests. Friday's 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils marked the fourth defeat in that stretch.

Even-strength scoring has become a major issue for the squad. Of the 11 goals tallied in the last five games, only six came at five-on-five strength. The remaining five goals occurred on the power play or with the net empty. This contrasts sharply with the team's start to the season, when it scored 41 goals in its first 10 games, 29 of which came at even strength.

Coach Ryan Craig noted that the team continues to generate chances but fails to finish them. He said the group has not played with a lead as often as it did earlier in the year. Craig argued that this pressure causes players to squeeze their sticks too hard. He maintained that the underlying possession and checking structure remains sound, suggesting the goals will follow once execution improves.

Forward Ivan Barbashev downplayed the urgency of the slump, citing the team's depth and experience. He stated that the group needs to figure out the issue and move past the current stretch. The Knights spent the early part of the season in first place in the Pacific Division. They now sit one point behind Edmonton, which holds the top spot in that division.

The team faces a difficult schedule beginning Monday night. The trip starts at Boston, followed by games in Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Buffalo. Craig identified completing passes and stacking shifts as the primary technical goals for the upcoming road games. He described the current execution level over the last 10 days as below the required standard. The Knights will practice on Saturday before heading east.
