Google is pushing a major interface update to the Gemini app for Android phones. The change restructures how users access features and manage their account preferences. This rollout follows a previous shift that renamed the Spark feature to Task.

The update is delivering through a server-side push rather than a standard app store download. This method allows the changes to reach users immediately without requiring a manual refresh. The modification targets the layout of the primary navigation drawer and the settings menu.

The side panel now places the search function in the top-right corner. New chat remains the first item in the list. The Library option has moved up from the bottom of the drawer to sit directly below New chat. To prevent the list from becoming too long, the app displays only five items initially. Tapping a More button reveals the remaining entries. For AI Ultra subscribers, the full list includes New chat, Library, Images, Scheduled, Daily brief, Customize, Students, Videos, and Gems.

The settings experience has also been reorganized. Google merged preferences that were previously split between the account menu and a separate settings area. Everything now resides on a single page. The account menu now handles only account switching, feedback submission, and help requests.

The new settings page starts with Manage account and Usage limits. A Preferences section follows, listing Notifications, Personal Intelligence, Avatar, Task settings, Theme, Skills, Voice, Media, Device controls, Cart and orders, and Gemini Notebook. Theme is the only entry marked as new. Two additional sections complete the page. Data & privacy covers Import memory, Contact info from your devices, Gemini Apps Activity, Your public links, and the Privacy Help Hub. The final section, Get support, lists Help, Report a problem, About, and Updates.

These interface changes reached iOS, macOS, and web users last week. That rollout coincided with the launch of Gemini 4 Argon. Android users are now receiving the same updates. Recent changes to the platform also include making Gemini Notebook a Connected App, moving free users to Auto models, and adding a Map tool that replaced the slash shortcut with an at symbol.
