Laura Gallacher took the stand on Thursday, October 29, to defend her husband’s character during the ongoing criminal trial in London. The 51-year-old former radio host is currently facing multiple sexual assault charges. Gallacher, who married Brand in 2017, testified that he is an incredible husband and a wonderful father to their three children.
Her description of the marriage stood in direct contrast to the arguments presented by the London prosecution. The prosecutors have labeled Brand a sexual predator who was fired. Gallacher described their relationship as very honest, frank, and clear, stating that their marriage has always been based on honesty.
Brand took the stand the previous day, on Wednesday, October 28. He denied all accusations while acknowledging that his past behavior was erroneous in retrospect. The former comedian admitted to feeling comfortable allowing his fame to facilitate sexual access, which he agreed was a mistake.
He told the jury that he has been a very determined and focused man. Regarding the women involved in the trial, Brand said he was persuasive, seductive, pleading, and coy. He noted that he devoted a large part of his life to what now appears to be more than just imprudence, infidelity, and foolishness.
The case involves six women who allege that Brand attacked them between 1999 and 2009. The criminal trial began on October 12, following the selection of the jury. Brand faces three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of attempted sexual assault.
The jury is currently reviewing the testimony from both the defendant and his wife. The trial continues in London as both sides present their versions of events.
