The final weeks of the midterm campaign have been defined by aggressive fundraising efforts from high-profile donors. Elon Musk recently moved over $76 million into his personal political committee, America PAC, during the first fortnight of October.

Data submitted to the Federal Election Commission on Thursday evening confirms the large transfer. The group also reported spending nearly $43 million in that same two week window. It enters the final stretch of voting with close to $47 million in liquid assets available for further use.

The Texas Senate contest absorbed the bulk of these new expenditures. The committee allocated $15.2 million to that specific race, which is double the amount spent there during the entire summer season. Of that total, $12.4 million was used to attack Democratic candidate James Talarico, while $2.8 million supported Republican Ken Paxton. Subsequent daily reports indicate an additional $9.1 million has targeted Talarico since then. This pushes the total spent against the Democrat to nearly $28 million, or about 40 percent of the group's overall cycle spending. The committee also shifted toward digital platforms, using $11.4 million on online ads, a sum approaching its combined mail and texting budgets.

An analysis of available records shows Musk has provided more than $445 million to Republican groups this cycle, securing his status as the largest known individual donor. Over $165 million of that sum went directly to America PAC since July. The committee did not provide a statement on the new figures.

Musk has also actively engaged on social media, where his companies like Tesla and SpaceX maintain significant operations. On Wednesday, he posted on X that he found something deeply wrong with Talarico. He labeled the candidate a creep and asserted without evidence that Talarico would vote to remove children from parents to transition them. He also shared a previously false claim that Talarico received mental health treatment earlier this month. Talarico replied that day, stating there is something deeply wrong with a system allowing one trillionaire to buy his own senator.

The race remains statistically uncertain. An Emerson College poll of 1,000 likely voters taken from October 17 to 19 places Talarico at 48 percent and Paxton at 46 percent, within the three point margin of error.

The outcome carries implications beyond the single seat. Democratic leaders in the House have signaled they will investigate Musk's role in the Department of Government Efficiency, his federal contracts, and numerous conflicts of interest if they gain control. Lawmakers in Silicon Valley have also highlighted the need to scrutinize federal funding for SpaceX's Starshield service in Ukraine, writing to the White House to request an inquiry.
