Sam Fender set the maximum price for standing tickets at 98.85 pounds for his upcoming Proper Massive tour. He made the decision after followers criticized the initial cost of admission for the stadium show at Wembley Stadium in London.
The tour was announced earlier this week. Shortly after the details went public, an Instagram user named Gavin Davis posted a breakdown of the available ticket options. The listing showed a stark difference between the available zones. Front standing tickets were priced at 130.75 pounds, while standard standing tickets cost 98.85 pounds.
Fender responded directly to Davis on social media. He stated that he was unhappy with the figures and explained that the prices had risen beyond his original intent. The singer argued that any price increase should cover the actual costs of staging the production. He rejected the idea that the higher price served as an extra profit margin for ticketing partners.
The artist also addressed the division of standing areas into front and back tiers. He described the setup as "bollocks" and confirmed it would not be used for his tour. Fender noted that he could not understand how such a system became a standard norm in live music.
The pricing issue extended beyond the London venue. Ticket listings for other cities on the tour also showed prices above 100 pounds for standing areas. In Newcastle, the highest ticket price reached 112.90 pounds. Cardiff listed top tickets at 119 pounds, and Manchester’s top price was 119.60 pounds. Edinburgh recorded the highest price point in the UK lineup at 120.95 pounds.
General ticket sales for the tour are scheduled to begin on Friday. A presale will open on Wednesday morning. The tour is set to take place across the summer of 2027. Fender will perform at several major venues, including St James’s Park in Newcastle, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Marley Park in Dublin, Murrayfield in Edinburgh, and the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
The musician joins a group of artists who have recently challenged high ticket costs. In August, Zara Larsson shared a similar sentiment in a TikTok video. She agreed with fans that tickets for her show in Bangkok were very expensive. Larsson expressed a desire to be more involved in the pricing process and noted her frustration that financial barriers deterred many people from attending her shows.
Fender also confirmed earlier this week that a fourth studio album is in the works. He has not yet revealed the title or the cover art for the new project. The release follows his recent critical and commercial success, including a Mercury prize win for his 2025 album People Watching.
The singer has established himself as a leading voice in contemporary music with hits such as Hypersonic Missiles and Seventeen Going Under. He has won five Brit awards during his career. Earlier this year, he collaborated with Olivia Dean on a duet version of the single Rein Me In. That collaboration won the 2026 Brit award for song of the year. It also spent 23 weeks at number one on the singles chart, securing its place as the longest running number one single in British history.
