Met Police Search Seven Areas for 38-Year-Old Fugitive After Lewisham Escape

Anthony Lloyd has been at large since Friday afternoon after forcing his way out of a health unit in Lewisham, southeast London. The Metropolitan Police have launched a search that extends beyond the capital, covering six additional counties due to the fugitive's personal connections in those areas.

Officers confirmed that Lloyd, who is 38 years old, exited the facility shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday. He was last spotted around 4:10 p.m. moving in the direction of Catford. Police have advised the public not to approach him and to dial 999 immediately if they recognize his appearance.

The force describes Lloyd as a white man standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build and short dark hair. When he left the building, he was wearing a grey-blue T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers. Det Supt Melanie Pressley, who leads the investigation, stated that officers are conducting inquiries to locate him and return him to custody.

Pressley emphasized that Lloyd poses a risk to both himself and the general public. She urged anyone with information, no matter how minor, to contact police urgently. The reference number for this case is CAD4739/23Oct.

Lloyd was convicted in 2025 of actual bodily harm stemming from an incident in Nottinghamshire involving three emergency services workers. He received a 12-month custodial sentence. In September, he was transferred from prison to the medical facility in Lewisham where he escaped.

Police believe Lloyd could be located anywhere in London but have expanded the search net to include Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Merseyside. These areas were identified because Lloyd has links to people or places in each region. The manhunt is currently ongoing with multiple units deployed to locate the fugitive.
